Seed Treatment
It's important to give cottonseed every opportunity to thrive. That's why PhytoGen® cottonseed is treated with products that help enhance vigor and provide the best possible protection from diseases such as pythium, fusarium, rhizoctonia and thielaviopsis.
- The primary seed treatment available on PhytoGen varieties is a mixture of Maxim® 4FS, Apron® XL, Nuflow® M,
Nusan® 30 and Lorsban® insecticide and is identified as "M".
- The primary seed treatment plus a Dynasty® treatment also is available and is identified as "MDY."
- The primary seed treatment plus a Cruiser® and Dynasty treatment also is available and is identified as "CRD."
- The primary seed treatment plus an AVICTA® Complete Pak treatment also is available and is identified as "ACP."
- The primary seed treatment plus an Orthene treatment also is available in California only and is identified as "MO."

All PhytoGen seeds are also protected by a colored coating to help designate the technology contained in the seed. The seed coating matches a corresponding colored stripe across the top of the PhytoGen seed bag for quick identification and to help eliminate confusion at planting time. Look for these colors:
- Blue – Conventional PhytoGen varieties, including Acala and Pima varieties in California
- Red – All PhytoGen Roundup Ready® and Roundup Ready Flex varieties
- Purple – All PhytoGen WideStrike® Insect Protection/Roundup Ready and WideStrike/Roundup Ready Flex varieties
- Green – All PhytoGen WideStrike varieties
